Sign language project launched

The "Language Acquisition" Junior Research Group, together with The Courant Research Center "Text Structures" and the Experimental Sign Language Lab Göttingen has been successful in acquiring funding for a project examining the neurocognitive processing of anaphoric relations in sign language discourse. The project is part of the DFG Priority Programme, "XPrag.de: New Pragmatic Theories based on Experimental Evidence", which aims at developing a pragmatic theory that is informed by evidence using experimental methods. There are two PhD positions available within the project which have recently been filled, one of which will focus on the neuronal correlates of anaphora resolution in sign language (Supervised by Nivedita Mani & Markus Steinbach) and the second of which will focus on the theoretical aspects of anaphora resolution in sign language (Supervised by Markus Steinbach and Edgar Onea).
