Anne Schacht

Anne Schacht studied psychology at Humboldt University in Berlin, where she completed her PhD in 2008 under the supervision of Werner Sommer, focusing on the effects of emotions in language and face processing. In recognition of her research, she was awarded the Early Career Prize of the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences in 2009. She subsequently held guest professorships in Geneva, Potsdam, and Berlin. In 2010, she was appointed as a junior professor at the University of Göttingen, and in 2011, she received the Venia Legendi in psychology. Since 2016, she has been a professor of Affective Neuroscience and Psychophysiology, and since 2022, she has held the professorship for Cognition, Emotion, and Behavior at the University of Göttingen.

Her current research focuses on cognition and behavior in social contexts and is an integral part of numerous collaborative initiatives (e.g., CRC 1528 Cognition of Interaction, RTG 2906 Curiosity, research clusters for Lower Saxony – Behavioral Economics and NAMEKI). Anne Schacht leads the development and establishment of the Human Cognition and Behavior (HuCaB) research center at the Göttingen campus. She is the spokesperson of the PhD program Behavior and Cognition and is involved as a mentor for young female scientists in various programs.
