Investigating causal intuitions.
In: False, ed. Glöckner, Andreas and Witteman, Cilia and Glöckner, Andreas (Ed) and Witteman, Cilia (Ed). Psychology PressIn the first part, we will focus on the cues that people use to judge causality. In the second part, we will look at the assumptions people include in their causal model representations that allow them to go beyond the given information. In the third part, we will concentrate on implicit and explicit causal knowledge resulting from dealing with a causal system. In all parts a research paradigm will be introduced which allows to run studies. Possible modifications and extensions will be pointed out. In addition, theoretical approaches which allow modelling the underlying cognitive processes will be briefly mentioned and pointers to the relevant literature will be given.
